I am a senior student doing a double major in Accounting and Statistics. Now I am also a competitive data analyst on Kaggle leading my data science team.

What was your first Coursera course, how did you find out about it and why did you decide to take it?

My first Coursera course was the Data Science specialization by Johns Hopkins University in June 2015. It was recommended by my friend, she was taking another course in Coursera. I found myself to have a great passion for data science.

Coursera is an excellent platform to help me pursue my dream to be a data scientist.

What’s your favorite Coursera course and why?

My favort Coursera course is from the University of Michigan, Python for Everybody, by Dr. Charles (Chuck). He not only teaches me how to program, but also instructs me a big picture about the programming field.

What impact have Coursera courses had on your life?

Before I took the course, I had no confidence. My parents, my friends, my professors, they all did not support me to pursue my dream to be a data scientist. But after I took the course, I passed the data science course with 96%grade, and received the invitation to be a Mentor. I regained my confidence and I want to help more people like me to fulfill their goals through Coursera.

Which course do you Mentor? What do you like most about the course?

I Mentor Data Scientist’s Toolbox by Johns Hopkins University. I have a great passion for data science, and the students and my peers they all share the same passion like me. Although I have very intense work, I am still willing to answer the students questions, and cooperate with the excellent peers.

How did you decide to become a Mentor?

The data science course I took on Coursera was my first step towards my dream. And when I studied through Coursera, there were so many people there to help me get through all the difficulties. When I received my invitation to Mentor, I did not hesitate.

I want to contribute all my efforts to make this platform a better place and help more people.
