What was your first Coursera course, how did you find out about it and why did you decide to take it?

My first Coursera course was “HTML, CSS, and Javascript“, the first course for the Full Stack Web Development specialization offered by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I found Coursera by searching “online courses” on Google.

I decided to take the course because I was preparing for my thesis and I was not quite confident with my skills; I wanted to expand my knowledge and deepen my knowledge on some subjects to take the next step of my education and career journey. I wanted to be fully prepared as I ventured towards my Masters degree.

What’s your favorite Coursera course and why?

My favorite Coursera course is Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects. I really liked this course because it had a huge impact on my life, especially teaching me techniques on how to be learn subjects that are difficult for me. I also learned how to better manage my time, and how to better retain information that I learn, especially the various languages I know.

Coursera helped me become more confident in various aspects of life. Coursera helped me open up to a new way of learning, especially being able to learn various unique topics from the comfort of my home. I can learn anything which I put my focus towards.

Because of Coursera, I became an eager person who wants to learn everything that I possibly can.

Which courses do you Mentor? What do you like most about the courses?

I Mentor two courses. The first course I Mentor is Front-End JavaScript Frameworks: AngularJS offered by the The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I like this course because I can focus on web technology and AngularJS, topics with which I engage on a daily basis through school. Even though I have completed this course, I still learn something new when I was help other learners in the course forums who have questions or confusions about the course content.

The second course I Mentor is Shaping Your Professional Brand offered by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I like this course, because it helped shape my personality, both socially and professionally. This course helps learners prepare for the work world, to open up their personalities and to help them learn how to better problem solve at work.
